Guitar Hero

Other than his time, Phil also donated his copy of Guitar Hero to the Quirk cause. He no longer needed it so wanted to find it a good home. Based on early results, it will be a much loved part of the family!

The girls were doing OK with it, pretty much using it on the easiest level and having a good time. Fiona struggles with the guitar but does OK on the drums. Naomi was doing quite well on both. Mindy and I also had a few goes and then bumped up the difficulty to the second easiest level…man, quite a jump for us! I think we will be at that level for quite a while, perhaps forever! Both of us were doing OK and in a rhythm, then, just to mess you up, they would send down a “Blue” note to hit and even though you know it is coming, for some reason it would mess me up. The girls tried to made us promise to not play it when they were in bed. We of course promised no such thing but we did wait until they were asleep so that they could not hear the action.

Just to let us know what we can aspire to, I searched on youtube and found some clips of people doing INSANE things with the game. Things like playing “Beat It” on expert mode and scoring 100% - ridiculous! Then I thought about it a little more and I am not sure if I WANT to get that good at Guitar Hero…kind of would be a waste of my life if that was what I managed to achieve I guess. Still, will be playing it on our easy levels quite a bit and who knows, maybe one day we will improve.

Operation "Get It Together"

Since the birth of Angus, things have been a bit of a struggle around here. Not in a major way...but my work schedule, combined with the month in Australia, then some travel with work had left us in need of some help to get the ball rolling. Phil offered up his services to get our drive straight and after an hour of raking, trimming back weeds and leaf blowing, we had made a great improvement.

Inside the house we are also making some changes. Getting rid of stuff that Angus is growing out of and the feeling is amazingly liberating. We are going to stay on top of this as both of us know we need to get this straight.

In parallel, I am combining this with Operation "Rip Every CD I Own". I am steadliy working through the list. Currently am at "J". Not sure why but it feels like an accomplishment!

Interesting developments in rugby. Quade Cooper mulling over an offer from the Eels. I certainly have mixed feelings about this...I think he would be great for Parramatta but this would likely crush any chance the Wallabies had of winning the World Cup. Still, I guess I have to be positive and see the good in whatever decision he makes. Now, if he were mulling an offer from the Broncos, I would be quite angry at the prospect.

Finally, the weather seems to be cooling a little. We have been crushed by the heatwave since we got back - nice to finally get some more mild weather. Hopefully we are past the worst of it all.

August 7 - 11 Years

August 7 marked our wedding anniversary! I am dubbing this our "Spinal Tap" anniversary for reasons that will be obvious to anyone who has seen the movie. For anyone who has NOT seen the movie, you are really missing out and this should be addressed!

As for the day, we went to lunch at TGI Fridays (not really a romantic destination) with the girls and spent the rest of the day with the girls at the house. Thrilling day, right? Well...with 3 kids, especially a 7 month old one, it is kind of tough to do much else!
