Twenty20

I had not seen many Twenty20 cricket matches before last night but I must admit to being very entertained and quite enjoy the format. I hope that the administrators find a way to incorporate these games alongside the Tests and ODI matches as well and that this is not seen as being the end of other forms of cricket. The one sided result might have had something to do with the enjoyment factor but what is not to like about aggressive batting, good pace bowling, amazing fielding and miked-up players on the field?

Also, things look good for us having an amazing group of pace bowlers right now. Lee, Clark, Johnson, Tait, Noffke, Bracken and Hilfenhaus give is a lot of depth for all forms of the game. Now if only we can find a spinner...

Mate, we've got a spinner: Stuey MacGill...if only he could stop presenting his beaut wine show "Uncorked" on the Lifestyle FOOD channel and concentrate on cricket. But seriously, T20 is here to stay. They love it on the subcontinent and that's where the ICC takes its cues from. I was recently talking to some blokes who followed the Aussies on tour in India and they said there's an even shorter form of the game enjoyed over there where only eight overs (a side) are bowled! Mate, I wish you didn't live so far away, so we could talk about this stuff F2F on a regular basis.

I feel quite sorry for MacGill. His best years were lost to the team with Warne in there and now that he finally gets his chance, injuries and age may well conspire against him. Hopefully he recovers from his surgery and plays for a few more years.
